Always Offer the Option to Subscribe

I was reading a blog just now, and wanted to subscribe to their feed to stay updated. My eyes automatically shifted to the header to find that glorious orange button – it wasn’t there. I went down, scanning the page – it wasn’t there. The blog in question had a an average readership. For example, on average,  posts get 16 comments, and a little less retweets. The lesson here, is that regardless of the amount of people that read your blog, you should still give people the option to stay informed. It’s a win-win situation really. Does the blogger have anything to loose? Nope.

An example of someone doing this right is Glen from ViperChill. ViperChill is a blog that he runs, soley dedicated to helping and informing his readers on viral marketing – you know, building your blog, making money with your blog. Glen isn’t out there for the money – you will find NO ads on his site,  just content. But he still gives readers the options to stay updated, because he blogs for his readers.

After all, that’s the reason you blog – to share your thoughts with people. So, regardless if your blog has three readers or three thousand, make sure that you give them some kind of option to stay updated. That was my two cents, how about yours?

I would have never thought of that! That’s a very good idea, it seems so simple, and you would think that it comes automatically to people, but I too have found blogs that have no way of allowing their readers to subscribe.

    -Goes to fix blog- lol

Hi Nicole , firstly : Awesome Site & Design as well as Great Content ! You are on-point as far as offering your readers the Subscribe to Content/Post Option . A friend of mine has also developed a great plugin for WordPress, which allows one to implement an E-mail Subscription box under their posts & easily integrate their feedburner as well .

You may want to check it out & recommend it to your users as well HERE

Great post – wishing you continued future success in your career endeavors :)
