Google Adsense.

Like most, I use Google adsense, like I have for a while now. But, over time I see that people are breaking a lot of rules according to their Program Policies. Usually I don’t even read the TOS etc, but way back when I registered for my account, I knew it would actually be a good idea to read these policies. Turns out it was interesting and told me what I could and couldn’t do. These were simple things, like not clicking your own ads, not asking people to click, etc. And the consequences for these, were things like the disabling of your account, or funds not being sent. Really, its annoying to see people practically begging for clicks and whatnot. Yes, it is a good way to make money, bu you can’t exactly cheat you way into it. Upon reading these program policies (again), I found a few interesting things, like-

Clicks on Google ads must result from genuine user interest. Any method that artificially generates clicks or impressions on your Google ads is strictly prohibited. These prohibited methods include but are not limited to repeated manual clicks or impressions, using robots, automated click and impression generating tools, third-party services that generate clicks or impressions such as paid-to-click, paid-to-surf, autosurf, and click-exchange programs, or any deceptive software. Please note that clicking on your own ads for any reason is prohibited. Failure to comply with this policy may lead to your account being disabled.
May not encourage users to click the Google ads by using phrases such as “click the ads,” “support us,” “visit these links,” or other similar language
May not place misleading labels above Google ad units - for instance, ads may be labeled “Sponsored Links” but not “Favorite Sites”
Sites displaying Google ads may not include:
    * Excessive profanity

    * Content regarding programs which compensate users for clicking on ads or offers, performing searches, surfing websites, or reading emails
    * Excessive, repetitive, or irrelevant keywords in the content or code of web pages
    * Deceptive or manipulative content or construction to improve your site’s search engine ranking, e.g., your site’s PageRank

    * Sales or promotion of products that are replicas or imitations of designer goods
    * Sales or distribution of term papers or student essays
    * Any other content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity, or infringes on the legal rights of others
Website publishers may not display Google ads on web pages with content protected by copyright law unless they have the necessary legal rights to display that content.
Up to three ad units may be displayed on each page.
No Google ad may be placed on pages published specifically for the purpose of showing ads, whether or not the page content is relevant.

And that’s about it. I just felt that I needed to share that with the world… A lot of people seem to think this is a fast way to make some cash. And I can tell you that it’s not fast, or easy. There are a lot of things to do, and watch out for. And this money doesn’t come all that fast. You have to wait until there is $100 worth of earnings until they actually pay you. And then, you have to wait a month or so for it to get to you. Anyways, just keep this in mind!

People seem to think they can get away with it… specially big big popular sites. >.<
I dont beg for clicks. Occasionally I will say.. “thanks guys.. I now have £40 in adsense.. thats awesome” other than that.. nothing. :) It does take a while.. but thats ok with me. Its a great way of saving up! xD At least you cant spend it! hehe

it really depends on your definition of fast, when it comes to making money fast. A well placed ad and a good job with SEO will get you, impressions and clicks on relevant ads from adsense. The same can be said of bidvertiser. It is very easy I admit to run afoul of google, for example my son clicked on about every ad he saw one day “to help”. He helped from the same computer I manage my google from they up and suspended the account. Luckily they don’t suspend domains from hosting for that and we were able to switch to my wifes account, which will soo be superseded by a business account as soon as they pay out.

Back to the point though, good SEO and visible ads will get you impressions and clicks. I can attest for a fact that less than 10k monthly page impressions with less than 5% click through can earn you more than the $100 monthly minimum payout. Specifics I can’t talk about because that too is a matter of TOS terms, but I can say it doesnt take a lot to make it happen if you put the work into it and play smart.

That’s cool about the google adsense thingy. Hm, where can I send you the CSS and all for my layout?

  6. Janina :

You used to ask people to click your ads, Nicole. You wanted your Mac ’so bad.’ Don’t be a hypocrite.

  7. Nicole :

@Janina- This a while ago, when I was immature, and you know what, I probably did, but after looking into it, and realizing consequences and such, I stopped. I didn’t take these rules into much consideration back then.

Wonderful. I wish everyone posted such great content. Thanks. Sam….

  9. Tori :

really? I didn’t know. I don’t have adsense or any ads on my site. I’m totally non-profit.

  10. Janina :

I find this icon looks really sexy on my blog.

  11. Nicole :

@Janina- You know what, it probably does. And using a fake email isn’t going to get you anywhere.

  12. Christine :

I know what you mean. I saw a site I quite like and visit regularly begging for clicks earlier today. It was pretty disappointing. I just put the ads on my site, and just don’t say a word about it. I mean, it’s there in plain site for people to see. If they wanna click on them, then cool. If not, that’s fine too. I’d love to make money, but I’m not gonna shove it down people’s throats and make them contribute to my income.

Hey, your site looks really amazing
Keep up all the hard work xx.

  14. Shellz :

This is very true and I see it all the time as well. I once tried telling someone of this and they didn’t care, they said they haven’t been caught so it doesn’t matter. Tsk. Tsk. Great post!
